FENDER GETS CENTURY

London, May 12.

Play in the match at the Oval, in which the South Africans are opposing Surrey, was resumed at 2.51) p.m. in dull weather, and before an attendance of about four thousand. Fender’s cricket was a feature of the days play. He put on 55 runs in forty-two minutes with excellent timing. He hit one 6 and twelve 4’s, during which he fired all round the wicket. Surrey’s first innings realised 223 (P. G. IL Fender 107, H. A. Peach 20). J. B. Blankenberg took three wickets for 78 runs, and S. J. Pegler six for 63.
