LOWER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL
At the fortnightly meeting of tne Lower Hutt Borough Council, held last evening, there were present the following: Mr. W. T. Strand (Mayor). Councillors J. Mitchell, D. A. Ewen, G. Me'.drum, E. IV. Hunt, and A. Mcßain. The Hutt Road Board wrote asking if the council approved of the Hutt Road extension scheme as suggested by Mr. Strand. The council reaffirmed the principle and set up a sub-committee consisting of Councillors Mitchell. Hunt, and Ewen to act on the general committee with . other bodies. . . An application from the Municipal Band, asking for an increased subsidy was set aside until tho estimates wer< framed. An application from the Wellington Rugby Union for permission to charge on certain days for admission to the Recreation Ground, was granted. A deputation from the Normandale Progressive Association asked that the council take over the maintenance of tho zig-zag to the station, together with £25 that tbo Minister of Lands had Pr The SI? Mayor stated that the council could not decide without a ruling, but he thought that if the borough could get the £25 and put the zig-zag in condition without having to maintain it afterwards, it would do so.
