GIRL ATHLETES
“TOO MUCH WEAR AND TEAR” Members of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association aro not in favour of girls competing in events away from their home towns. “Medical opinion is right against girls taking part in athletics at all? said Mr. H. Amos, at last evening’s meeting of the N.Z.A.A.A. “There is no doubt that a sprint race results in too much wear and tear on a girl.” “I think that the principle of girls travelling about tho country to athletic meetings is all wrong,” said Mr. Davies. “It is a bad thing, especially when they are in company with men competitors.” It was decided to refer the matter to the annual general meeting of . the N.Z.A.A.A.
