NEW ZEALAND CENTRE MEETS

The monthly meeting of the. New Zealand Amateur Athtetic Association was held last evening. Mr. A. T. Devies was in the chair, and there were also present: Messrs. H. Amos, A. B. Sievwright. R. Connop. S. S. Dean, and the hon. secretary, Mt. V. Hugo. It was decided to send a recommendation to the incoming council at the annual general meeting of the New Zealand body that there should be provision made for one and three mile cycle races at future New Zealand championship meetings. Mr. S. S. D’ean proposed, and it was agreed, that a recommendation to the annua', meeting of the New Zealand body should be that no outsider should hold a New Zealand chamnionship. Mr. Dean thought that a New Zealand championship should he reserved for a bonafide resident of tho Dominion. An outsider, winning an event, should be presented with some trophy to commemorate the feat, however. The association decided to support the following programme for all future Australasian championships: First Day.—loo yards, 440 yards. I roite flat. 3 miles walk, 120 yards hurdles, hammer throw, pole vault, discus, javelin, , , , Second Day.-220 yards, 880 yards. 3 miles flat, 1 mile walk, running high jump, shot running broad jump. 440 yards hurdles, relay race. Decathlon-First day: 100 metres, broad jump, shot, high jump. 400 metres Second dav: Hurdles, discus, po.e vault, javelin, 1500 metres. A communication from the Amateur Athletic Union of Australia, and New Zealand, with headquarters m Sydney, stated that the executive had appointed the following delegates to represent the union at the International Athletic Conference to bo held in Paris in Ju.y: Messrs ’ B. J. Parkinson. S. .1. Jackson, O. G. H. Merritt, and Dr. R. Honner, who will act as A. E. Porritt s Messrs. H. Amos and G. Ha 4 w ere appointed a committee to draft a set of cycle rules.
