FAMOUS DETECTIVE RESIGNS
ACTIVITIES IN SENATE INVESTIGATIONS. (Rec. May 11, 5.5 p.m.) Washington, May 9. William J. Burns, whose activities have been a storm centre in several Senate investigations, has resigned the position of Chief of the Justice Department’s Bureau of Investigation. He was selected for the post three years ago by the Attorney-General, Mr. Daugherty. Tho world-famous detective has since borne much of the criticism levelled at tho administration of Mr. Daugherty. Illness is stated to be the reason for his resignation.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
