NEWCASTLE TRAGEDY

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER FOUND DEAD IN BED

Newcastle, April 29. Late yesterday afternoon the bodies of two women, Mrs. Ettie Saeter (aged 43) and her daughter Ettie (aged 16) were discovered lying in a double bed. Both were clothed in their night attire. The police believe that Mrs. Saeter first administered poison to her daughter and than took some herself. A curious phase of the tragedy is that by the afternoon’s post Superintendent Childs, of the Police Force, received a letter signed by' Mrs. Saeter in which she expressed the intention of taking the life of her daughter as well as her own. The police immediately proceeded to the residence and found the bodies as stated. Domestic troubles are supposed to be the cause of the tragedy.—Press Assn.
