Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Marton sale on Apr. 22 as follows: —Owing to railway strike all stock entered did not come forward but we quitted practically the whole yarding of 1200 sheep at the following prices:— Good lams, to 19s. 6d.; medium do, 14s. Bd.. 15s. 3<l. to 16s. 9d.; small do., to 10s. 2d. Cattle and pigs sold at late rates. The Duke of Edinburgh’s oak, planted by him in the Basin Reserve in 1867, is in danger, as the building of the new pavilion will mean that tho tree must go. Tho matter has been referred to the Mayor. Mr, lv. A. Wright, to ascertain whether it will not be possible to save the tree by transplanting. If anything is to be done in that direction it must bo decided upon without delay, as work has already been commenced on the new building, and, failing instructions to the contrary, no doubt the oak will be cut down- ________
