The Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) has not vet returned from the south. Mr Justice Chapman, Mr. Justice Reed. Mr. Justice Salmond and Mr. Justice MacGregor are at present in Wellington. Mr Justice Frazer and other members of tho Arbitration Court loft for New Plymouth on Friday on their way to Auckland. The Court sat at Auckland yesterday. Mr. W. A. Hawkins, Registrar of the Supreme Court, has returned from the South Island. Mr. H. A. Dickie, Wanganui, is visiting Wellington. Dr. P. C. Fenwick has been appointed head of the deep therapy, X-ray and radium department to be established at the Christchurch Hospital as the result of a gift of £4OOO made by a Christchurch citizen. Dr. Fenwick will leave for England shortly to obtain tho certificate in the workstipulated by the donor.—Press Assn. Mr. I. L. G. Sutherland, M.A., has received advice by cable that the Senate of Glasgow University have conferred on him tho degree of Doctor oi Philosophy (Ph. D.). The degree lias been awarded for a thesis on psychology. Dr. Sutherland recently returned from Britain, having completed his term ns post-graduate scholar in arts, and is now on vlio stall’ of Victoria Univeisity College. Mr. W. Cross, chief traffic inspector lor the Wellington City Council, who was run down and seriously injured by a motor-car on the Hutt Road on Saturday evening last, still lies in a critical condition at the Wellington Hospital. Inquiries made last evening elicited that there was no change for bettor of worse.
