4 (From Our Own Correspondent.) Carterton, April 28. The Wairarapa South County Council held its monthly meeting at Carterton on Saturday. The statement of finances showed a credit balance of £1237 9s. 4d. Accounts amounting to £965 ss. 3d. were passed for payment. It was resolved that the same rate as last year be collected over the whole county. L’be Treasury advised, "that several inscribed loans had matured on February 1, namely, Waioliine bridge at Mataraua, Manning’s Road, and Anderson’s Line. Mr. E. Mason’s request for an additional £1 per year royalty for metal taken from his property was granted. The application of A. Johnson to take a 12-inch pipe culvert across Park Road was granted. Permission was given Messrs. D. McGregor and Nitz Bros, io take hydro-electric wires across roads at Te Wharau. It was decided that the Blue Slip in Craigie Lea road be put in order. Park Road is to be metalled from Carter’s to Petersen’s. The same roads as last year are to be closed to heavy traffic from May io September, inclusive. The Power Board is to be asked to fill in the trenches at Windy Point. The Wairarapa P. and A. Society met at Carterton on Saturday. The treasurer’s statement showed a bank overdraft of £1676 155., and accounts amounting to £65 19s. lid. were passed for payment. The show dates were fixed for October 22 and 23. Messrs. C. Elgar and D. Cameron were appointed to represent the society at the international conference of sheep breeders at Leicester (England) on June 30. The Wairarapa Licensed Victuallers' Association advised that their 25guinea trophy, which was won outright at the last show, would be replaced. It was decided to contribute 2 per cent, on the membership fees to the .Royal Agricultural Society. The hall committee were empowered to have alterations made to the interior.
