TRAPPERS MURDERED
New York. April 25. Failure to bring in their winter catch of furs led to the bodies of three trappers, named Morris, Nicholls and Wilson, being discovered in a lake near the town of Bend, Oregon. All had been shot in the head, and the bodies were dropped through a hole in the ice. Their camp was stripped of furs. It is supposed that the murderer called from the lake and that one trapper went from the camp, which is some distance from the lake, to ascertain the cause of the call, aud was shot down; that the others followed to find out why he did not return, and were shot separately.—AusN.Z.
