GRAND LODGE, I.O.O.G.T.

The jubilee session of Grand Ixxlge of the International Order of Good Templars was opened yesterday morning in the Baptist Sunday School hall, Vivian Street, where Bro. Dalton, grand chief templar (of Dunedin), presided. Representatives from lodges throughput tho Dominion were present, also a number of local members of the order. Sis. Mrs. Betts. D.C.T. of Wellington District Itodge, extended a cordial welcome to the visitors, a letter of welcome also being received from rhe secretary of the Wellington Ministers Association. Greetings from Bro. J. A. p. Adams. P.G.C.T., and Bro. R. Mercer, Dunedin District Lodge, were also receivcS. The G.C.T., Bro. Dalton, made a special reference to tho loss the order had sustained through the death of Bro R Sanndelands, P.G.C., and Bro. G. Griffiths, P.G., chaplain, Sis. Mra. Pethorick, of Wellington, and a number of others. A vote of sympathy was carried to the relatives of the deceased members, tho members standing in silence. Bro. Pethorick, grand secretary, replied to the expression of symPi Thc’ reports of the grand chief templar •’rand electoral superintendent, grand'’superintendent of juvenile work were received at this session. At the afternoon session greetings were received from Sis. Rose (Levin), Bro. W. Duncan (grand secretary, Queensland), Sons and Daughters of Jemperance. Women’s Christian Temperance Union, and subordinate lodges throughout the- Dominion. The report of Grand Lodge trustees was given by Bro. 0. C. Cameron, P.D.1.C.T., showing tho condition of tho various moneys and properties in their trust. A groat deal of discussion took place over this report. Congratulations wore extended to Sis. Mrs. Devereaux, grand chaplain, on her election to tho position of grand patriarch of tho Sons and Daughters of Temperance. A vote of thanks was passed to Bro D. U. Cameron, P.G.C.T., for his work in connection with trust and order. The Grand Lodge adjourned until 10 a.m. today.
