BANK WASHED AWAY

AT CASTLECLIFF WHARF. News was received in Wellington yesterday that the recent flood in the Wanganui River had scoured under the bank at the rear of the Castleclilf Wharf, and caused a considerable portion of the bank to collapse on Saturday. The wharf was not damaged, but several yards of the railway were affected. The liner Atholl and the intercolonial cargo steamer Joan Craig were berthed at the wharf at the time.
