AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS -U VICTORIA GETS TWO WINS By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. (Rec. February 8, 11.35 p.m.) H°bart, February 8. The Australasian athletic championships were continued this afternoon in superb weather. Tho tracks were excellent. In the medley relay champ’oiiship, in which all the States competed, Victoria was first, New South Wales second, and New Zealand, represented by Harvey, Hose, and Lewis, last. Time, 3min. 35 4-ssec. Three-mile Walk. —E. Austin (New South Wales), 1; N. Asker (Victoria), 2 ; J. McKenzie (New Zealand), 3. Austin went out from the New Zealander, who was followed by Asker, McKay, and McKenzie, and at the end of the third lap was overtaken by Asker. Thereafter Austin had it all his own way and won by Imin. 29sec. from Asker. The New Zealander was a lap and a half away, third. Time, 22min. I3sec 880 Yards. —First heat: Whyte (Victoria) beat Leitch (Tasmania) by three yards.- Time, 2min. 4 3-ssec. Carroll (Victoria) was third. Second heat: Norman (New South Wales) teat Linehan (Victoria) by ten yards. Payne and Winter (New South Wales) and Duigan (Victoria) were competitors in the Decathlon, the result being Duigan, 6100.774 points, 1 ; Payne, 528.994 points, 2; Winter, 4176.293 points, 3. Victoria to-day had two wins and one second; New South AVales, one win. a second, and a third; and New Zealand, one third.—Press Assn. MOTION OF SYMPATHY WITH WILSON BY BOARD OF CONTROL (Rec. February 8, 11.35 p.m.) Hobart, February 8. At a meeting of the Board of Control of the Amateur Athletic Union of Australia and New Zealand, Mr. C. Eady (Tasmania) moved that a vote of sympathy be forwarded to H. E. Wilson, the New Zealand competitor in the 120 yards hurdles, who was injured on the North Hobart ground, and at the same' time expressing the hope that he would soon recover. The motion was seconded by Mr. Abbott (Victoria), who referred to the unfortunate position in which the New Zealand Association had been placed by the accident. The Chairman (Air. Coombes) expressed regret at the occurrence, and tho motion was unanimously car--11 Wilson’s condition is satisfactory, but he is still in great pain—Press Assn. ’ _____ MR. COOMBES’S APPOINTMENT VICTORIA’S ATTITUDE DEPLORED (Reo. February 9, 0.5 a.m.) Hobart, February 8. At a meetins- of the Council of the Australasian Amateur Athletic Association, presided over by Mr. It. Coombes, on a motion of the Tasmanian delegate, a resolution was passed deploring the attitude of the Victorian Association in withdrawing its officials from the championships as a protest against the appointment of Mr. R. Coombes, which action is considered derogatory to amateur sport and decidedly against its principles,, and that the council confirms the action taken by Tasmania in appointing such officials as it thought just and right m carrying out the championships. The Victorian delegates refrained from voting.—Press Assn. _
