NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM arrangements for opening MATCH Mr. C. G. Wilson presided at last night’s 'meeting of the Mfellington Cricket Association, and there were also present: Messrs. H- M. McGiir, A R. Ronaldson, R. A. Berry, W. R. Bock, F. M. Martin, P. B. Broad, B. L. Salmon, H. J. Buck, D. McKenzie, and E. R. F. Hewitt (Secretary). The chairman explained that the New South Wales team would arrive by the s.s. Ulimaroa on Wednesday, They would practise at the Basin Itesierve on Thursday afternoon, and a civic reception would be extended to them by the Mayor of Wellington at the Town Hall at 5 o’clock on Thursday afternoon. „ It was stated that Messrs. Fuller and Sous had offered to entertain the New South Wales and Wellington teams one evening at His Majesty s Theatre, and the manager of the Ambassador Cabaret had also agreed to entertain the teams one evening. Dr. and Mrs. P. F. McEvedy would entertain the visitors at their home at Lowry Bay on Sunday afternoon. . It was decided to issue invitations to the officers of the Japanese warships and H.M.S. Chatham to attend the match. . It was decided that the hours or play for tho New (South Wales v. Wellington match should be: Start play 11 o’clock; luncheon. 1 to 2.1 o; afternoon tea, 4to 4.15; draw stumps, 6 o’clock. Mr. W. R. Bock, chairman of the Umpires’ Association, notified that Messrs J. R. Gardiner and C. Webb had been appointed to act as umpires in the New South Wales v. Wellington match. . , The Kilbirnie Chib entered a protest against the Eastbourne Club for having played a playter in a grade against the Kilbirnie Third BB team on January 26. The match was won by Eastbourne by 19 rras. It was decided to uphold the protest, and order the match to be replayed. GAMES AT NELSON (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Nelson, February 4. In the senior cricket match, Athletic v United, C. Kemnity, for Athletic, made 120 (retired), W. Cole 76, Kmzett 52. The total for the innings was 389. Stoke 119, Old Boys, seveu wickets for 168 (J. Newman 52). Junior results: Athletic beat Old Boys by three wickets. Wakatu beat P and T. Motueka High School defeated Athletic by 138 runs (S. Still, with 75, was top scorer). GREAT BOWLING RECORD BY SYDNEY YOUTH Sydney, February 4. Playing for the Cleveland Street Club in second grade cricket, a youth named McDonough captured seven wickets for 2 runs in the first innings and seven wickets for 5 runs in the second innings. His season’s record is 124 wickets for an average of 4. He is a medium left-hander. It is suggested that in view of the scarcity of good bowlers, the Cricket Association’s selectors should test him out. Press Assn.
