PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL

The fortnightly meeting of the I’etone Borough Council was held last night. There were present the Mayor (Mr. J. W. McEwan) in the chair, and Councillors C. P. Brocklebank, A. G. Stiffensen, V. Jacobsen, A. J. Pomton, W. Hay, G. Cook, W. P. Coles, and H. Jay. A sum of £lOO was placed on the estimates to enable the Taita Cemetery Board to carry on. The council stating that it required further information, did not admit liability in a claim, by Mrs. E. Shephard, for damage sustained to a costume, etc., in Jackson Street, whilst workmen v'ere tarring Jackson- Street footpath. It was agreed to receive a deputation from the Hutt Valley District High School Committees’ Association on February 11 concerning ill© need for the early erection of the Hutt Valley High School.
