HAIRDRESSERS’ WAGES
.. . NEW CLAIMS FILED. The Hairdressers’ Union lias filed a claim for an award for Wellington and a 25-mile radius. A minimum wage of £5 a week is asked for men or women hairdressers, hairworkers, and wigmakers, who havte been five years at the trade. Apprentices to receive £1 ss. the first year, £1 15s. the second, £2 ss. the third, £2 15s. the fourth, and £3 ss. for the fifth year. This hours asked for are 48, from 8.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (with an hour’s meal interval) on the first four days, 8.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays, and 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
