POLICE AND MAINTENANCE CASES. Mr. C. K. Orr-Walker, S.M., dealt with the police and maintenance cases in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. A further remand until to-morrow was granted in the case of a young labourer named John Asher, who is alleged to have entered tho Gresham Hotel on December 22 last and stolen from the premises a gold watch valued at £l2 and £2 in money, the property of Margaret Mary Gallagher. . John Morris Daly, whose arrears in respect of a maintenance order totalled £35, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as 12s. por week is paid. John Joseph Buckley (arrears £l3 16s. lOd.) was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as he contributes 10s. per week. Percival Green, (arrears £8 55.) was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, tlie warrant to be suspended so long as 10s. weekly is paid. On an order the arrears in respect of which amounted to £4 2s. 6d., he was sentenced to seven days’, imprisonment, tho warrant to be suspended so long as ss. per week is paid. Samuel Louisa Blood (arrears £6) /was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, to be released on payment of tho amount. John Bramley (arrears £261 10s.) was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment in respect of arrears which had accrued since his last conviction. Walter Beyer (arrears £4) was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended if arrears are paid.
