DROWNED ON “DRY” LAND

FALL INTO ILLICIT WINE STORE. At the rear of his home at Newark, New Jersey, Mr. Luis R. Ussomano kept his own private supply of liquor. It was wine, and he kept it in a vat 12ft. deep and 10ft. in diameter. When he went one day to draw supplies, he fell in. A member of his household, Samuel Sico, plunged after him, mid despite the fumes from the win<,. attempted to rescue him. He himself was soon in danger. Firemen were sent for. They saved Sico, but when at last, by means of grappling hooks, they fished out the body of Mr. Ussomano, he was dead. He had been drowned. Then the prohibition officers arrived. They confiscated, the wine.
