MEXICAN REVOLT

STEPS TO PROTECT LIVES OF AMERICANS Washington, January 20. It is announced that the cruiser Omaha and six destroyers have been ordered to protect American lives and investments in Mexico. Carrying a thousand men, they will maintain order at Tampico and Vera Cruz. It is also announced that the Governor of Texas, who at first refused his consent, has now agreed to allow the passage of Mexican Government troops across a corner of Texas to operate against the revolutionaries in the Tampico area. The transfer of two thousand Mexican troops was acormpli&hed yesterday.—Reuter.
