The Dominion croquet tourney was continued to-day, when the semi-finals of the championship doubles were reached. A surprising feature of the play in this section was the severe defeat of J. S. McCullough and Mrs. Richardson (winners of the handicap doubles) at the hands of A. G. Ross and MrsMaddren (all of Canterbury). The final score was 26 —1. Another surprise victory was that of N. P. Stratton and Mrs. Watkins (Hastings) over Rhodes Williams and Mrs. Clarke (Manawatu), by 28—0. The final tomorrow will thus be a contest between the North and South Islands. Results: DOMINION OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. First round: McCullough defeated Miss Pegg, 2—o; Mrs. Tifien defeated Miss Anderson, 2—o; Stratton defeated Mrs. Jarvie, 2—o; Caughley defeated Mrs. Watkins, 2—o. Fourth round: Miss Blake won from Mrs. Kenyon, 26 —12. NEW; ZEALAND CROQUET COUNCIL ANNUAL MEETING. By Telegraph—Press Association.. Palmerston North, January 21. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Croquet Council the executive reported an increase in membership, which now stood at 2521. Two more clubs had affiliated. The executive considered that efforts should be made in Hawke’s Bay to have several clubs affiliated with the Manawatu Association. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £76 9s. 7d. It was decided that the next Dominion tournament be held at Christchurch in January next, and the next North Island tourney at Wellington on a date to be arranged. Officers were elected as follow:—Mr. T. F. Chambers (Canterbury), president ; Mrs. Earl McKenzie (Wellington), vice-president. Official handicappers were elected as follow: —Airs. McKeesing (Auckland, Messrs. J. Murray (South Auckland), H. P. Stratton (Hawke’s Bay), R. Caughley (Wellington), T. F. Chambers (Canterbury).
