REVENUE STILL ON THE UP GRADE EXPENDITURE SHOWS FURTHER FALL An appreciable increase in revenue and a further decrease in expenditure are cheering features of the railway returns issued last night for the period April 1 to December 8. The railway returns for the period from April 1 to December 8, 1923, wh’ch follow, show an increase of £166.964, and the expenditure a decrease of £153,919 on the similar period in the previous year:—
The percentage of expenditure to revenue was as follows :—North Island, 1323 76.52; 1922. 8-5.30. South Island, 1923, 93.54; 1922, 97.43.
