Christchurch, December 3. Reporting to the Selwyn Plantations Board to-day, the superintendent stated that for the past six weeks only .89 inches of rain had fallen in the Darficld district and should the drying winds continue much longer it was only reasonable to expect a fairly high death-rate in the newly established plantation.
