1 A FURTHER DELAY
Another long and acrimonious discussion took place at the meeting of the Citv Council (in committee) yesterday afternoon on the recommendation of fne Finance Committee that tho maintenance of the now inclined tramway at Roseneath be a charge upon the trainways department, and that the work be" proceeded with at once. Thpre was, it is understood, a cleavage in opinion as to which department should bear the anticipated loss on tile tramway when in operation, and the whole ground of alternative means of access (including an extension of the electric tramways via Hataitai) was gonp over again. In the end the recommendation was referred, back to tlie Finance Committee for reconsideration.
