MIRAMAR SEASON CLOSES DISTRIBUTION OF TROPHIES The Miramar season, as far as matches are concerned, closed on Saturday, when the prizes were presented by the president (Mr. J. P. Firth). The president congratulated the club on a very satisfactory season, and upon the improvements effected to the course, not the least of which were the added bunkers, which would prevent the game from being so ridiculously easy us it was. (Laughter.) Captain A. E. Mahin congratulated the president on his lengthy term of office, and hoped to see him retain it for many a year. Winners were then presented with their trophies for the 1923 season by the president as follow: — Ladies. Senior championship, bliss Gambrill; ■junior. Miss Plimmer; Elsie Gray Cup (record score), Miss Gambrill; Wheeler Cup, Mrs. Martin; Holmes Cup. Miss von Dadelszen: George Cup, Miss C. Conway; Kirkcaldie trophy, Mrs. Banks; L.G.IT. silver medal, Mrs. Banks; L.G.U. bronze medal, Mrs. Nagle. Men. Senior championship, A. D. S. Duncan ; junior championship . A. E. Russell; captain’s trophy, J. H. Drake; Doughty Memorial Cup. J. H. Drake and H. E. H. Aplin; Prince of Wales Cup, A. A. Stichbury; runners-up (trophy), — Scott; tree planting cup, G. H. Scott and J. L. Petley; Webb Memorial Cup, S. A. Wiren; Lady Jellicoe Cup, Miss S. Duncan and Captain A. R. V. Curtis; Richardson Cup, Miss L. Brandon and A. Erskine. WELLINGTON CLUB’S CHAMPIONSHIPS The Wellington Golf Club’s championships were advanced a stage during the week-end. A. D. Morris and J. B. Mac Ewan were out of town, and J. T. Tucker was ill, so these three games were not played. The wind was not nearly so strong as in town and the scoring was better than on the previous week-end, A. D. S. Duncan returning a 72 for his morning round. The following are the results of the games played:— Senior Championship. W. Ward beat A. R. Sclanders 1 up (at the thirty-seventh). J. B. Parker beat E. Pago 4 up and 3. A. D. S. Duncan beat C. J. Wilson 5 and 4 J. Duncan beat P. B. Cooke, 2 up. K. D. Duncan beat R. W. Kirkby 8 and 7. Junior Championship. R. Young beat L. H. Steele 3 and 2. G. G. Callender beat W. Young 6 and 5. H. Morton beat G. Tolhurst 1 up at the nineteenth. W. L. Rothenburg beat C. F. Macfarlane 3 and 2. Men’s Foursome. A men’s foursome was played at Heretaunga for the Ranfurly Cup on Saturday, the winners being W. A. Kiely and J. B. Parker, 5 up. D. M. Findlay and W. R. Chapman were run-ners-up, 3 up. Other results were:—W. B. Lees and J. Marchbanks, 2 up; A. Strang and A Ashford, 2 up; W. Crawford and R. 0. Chesney, 2 up; E. Page and V. Rhind, 1 up. JOHNSONVILLE CLUB The senior championship final of the Johnsonville Golf Club was played at the week-end over 36 holes. H. A. Black and C. B. were the finalists, and the result of the match was a win for Black —12 up and 11 to P la y- • -l H. H. Turner won the junior championship of the club from D. Gilligan on the thirty-sixth green. EXHIBITION MATCH AT RANUI The exhibition four-ball match at Ranui, between Arthur Brooks (New Zealand open champion), the Lower Hutt professional, and J., L. Black, of Lower Hutt, and Fred Hood, tho Miramar professional and A. D. S. Duncan (runer-up for both open and amateur championships) that was postponed last Saturday will be played next Saturday. Such a strong four are expected to attract a large following round the Ranui course. The match will probably start at 1.45 p.m. RANUI CHAMPIONSHIPS The final of the Ranui novice championships was played at the week-end when C. Mexted beat W. J. Hook, 1 up. In the junior championship, J. R. E. Bennett beat E. R. Walls, 1 up. The final of the senior chanipionship, when A. A. Stichbury will meet J. D. Dalziell, will be played some time within the next two weeks.
