ROBBERIES AT LOS ANGELES
BURGLAR SHOOTS A POLICEMAN.
New York, November 25. Tho nolicc at Los Angeles have captured F-dwc.rd Carleton,i who was wanted for robberies at a number of rich homes in Hollywood. A week ago he married a charming wife. . whom he compelled to accompany him on his raids. Thev were surprised while robbinir a. mansion.' Carleton shot a policeman, dead, and leaped from an upstairs window ana escaped, but the police secured evidence from his wife which led to his arrest. Another man named Desclieneau has received a life sentence from a Los Angeles Court on charges of robbery. His speciality was to enclose himself in a trunk and get himself carried into the hanks and other places which ho desired to rob.-<-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
