ATHLETIC AND CYCLING UNION
By Telegraph—Press Association. Blenheim, November 1. The annual conference of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union was held to-day. presided over by Mr. D. F. McKay (Dunedin). There was a good attendance of delegates from all parts of New Zealand. A lengthy agenda was gone through, mainly concerning minor amendments and additions to rules dealing with athletic, cycling, and chopping events. The Raetihi Centre was suspended for failing to make returns last season. It was reported that the number of competitors registered last year was 2000. This year the total is 2493. The .athletic and field events championships were ’awarded to the West Coast. The cycling championships were left to the North Canterbury Centre for allocation. The chopping championships were left in tho hands of the executive. i The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr. D. F. McKay; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. J. Curry, A. A. George, A. Hansen ; hon solicitor, Mr. J. Lang; executive, Messrs. Edwards, Collingwood, Seobie. Meek. Lucas. Perkins; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Kennedy: auditor, Mr. J. B, Stewart. <
