DEAR VEGETABLES
DUE TO SHORTAGE OF SUPPLIES The tone ,of the vegetable market at the Wellington Fruit and Produce Exchange yesterday was decidedly strong, tlie reason assigned for the high prices ruling being shortage of supplies. Parsnips brought up to 30s. a sack; new potatoes fetched from 2Jd. to 3d. per lb.: lettuce, 9s. 6d. a case; spring cabbage, 15s. 6d. a sack; carrots, 19s. 6d. a sack; cauliflowers, 19s. a sack; spinach, 15s. a sack ; green peas, from 3s. to 3s. 2d. per peck; and gooseberries 6d. per lb.
