At a meeting of returned soldiers, held at the School House, at the Putorino settlement on Tuesday night, to consider matters of importance to tho settlement in general, it was resolved to acknowledge the kind, and sympathetic remarks made by Mr. A Stuart, of Marton, about returned soldiers and their settlements. The following resolution was passed:—Thatthis meeting of returned soldiers appreciates the honest and manly way in which Mr. Stuart responded to the ■toast of the Army and Navy at the N.Z. Farmers’ Union nt Palmerston North, on May 24, arid his references to returned soldiers, and their settlements.
