SENIOR GAMES FOR SATURDAY. The senior fixtures for Saturday are Wellington v. Karori. Hutt v. Huia, ’Varsity v. Wakatu, and Petone v. Wesley. BAD STATE OF HUTT GROUNDS. A letter of a complaint from the Wellington Hockey Association was the occasion for strong comment at last night’s meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council. The letter concerned itself with the bad state of the hockey ground, which, it was maintained, was not in a fit state to be played on.z Councillors who had seen the ground in question were at one as to the perfect justice of the complaint, and emphasised in no uncertain terms the deplorable state the ground was in. The ground had neither been properly rolled, nor the grass cut. It was quite unsafe for hookey to be played on, even for purposes of practice. Hockey players had every right for their games to be played under conditions allowing them reasonable chances from injury, but to play on a ground such as the Lower Hutt hockey ground then was was, in the opinion of the council, distinctly unfair. The matter was finally referred to the reserves committee with power to act. < ,
