HOSPITAL PROBLEMS

CURABLE AND INCURABLE CASES.

BY Telegbaph.—pbess Association. Dunedin, April 13.

The Otaiio Hospital Board to-dav received a lengthy report from Dr. Eyth, on a Jotter from the South Canterbury Board regarding compulsory detention of curable cases of consumption, hospital accommodation for incurables, and improving the milk supply. Dr. Lyth considers that treatment in the first case should be in the direction of assistance rather than compulsion. He urges that no milking cow should be untested for tuberculosis. He reports that tho first proposal is impracticable and recommends the board’s support for the other two. Dr. Falconer, tho medical superintendent, generally agrees, pointing out that tho Department has power to order highly infectious cases into an institution.
