LYALL BAY SCHOOL
ANNUAL REPORT. The report to be submitted to the annual meeting of householders by the Lyall Bay School Committee states that the school grounds are in better condition than for years past, especially in vigw of the curtailment of expenditure on education. The western approach, including concerete retaining walls, a post and rail fence, and filling has been completed without assistance from the Dspartment. .Other works completed comprise, erection of walls on the infants’ playground for a sand-pool; repairing and top-dressing the cricket patch; a second concrete practice wicket laid • concrete posts and three horizontal bars ; three bub-ble-heads fitted; totara pickets, substituted for ivira-nettingj a nest of 70 pigeon-holes was fixed m the infant school; and school buildings, outbuildings, and fence® painted. Plans have been prepared for an additional schoolroom, the erection of which is supported by the Board. After dealing with a number of matters of interest to the householders, the committee express appreciation of the assistance given by the teaching staff and others in the organising of entertainments, and to Miss Roberts (infant mistress) in conducting a jumble sale.
