BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION. Masterton. April 12. This morning a warrant was issued in Mastertoil lor the arrest of Ralph Percy Cook, accountant in the Municipal Gas Department, for the alleged theft of £54 10s. od. Cook left for Christchurch on Tuesday about an hour after the information was laid. Before the warrant was acted upon the Mastertoil police received a telegram stating that Cook had given himself up to the Christchurch police, and stated that there. were defalcations in tho books in Masterton amounting to about £3OO. The Masterton police then notified Christchurch of the issue of the warrant in Maoterton for Cook’s arrest. Cook will be formally charged in Christchurch, and will probably be remanded to Ma?terton. The council is covered by a fiedity bond for £5OO.
