TO MEET IN OCTOBER REPRESENTATION OF NEW ZEALAND MR, MASSEY’S ABSENCE REGRETTED BY telegbaph.—Pbzss association. —OoFYRIOHT. London, April 9. Mr. Stanley Baldwin, Chancellor of the Exchequer, announced in tho House of Commons that the Imperial Conference and the Imperial Economic Conference would open on October 1, and would be held concurrently. It was anticipated that all the Dominions and India would be represented at the Economic Conference, and that all except New Zealand would be represented at the Imperial Conference. Ho regretted that Mr. Massey did not expect to be able to attend the Imperial Conference. Mr. Baldwin said he hoped that all tho other Prime Ministers would be present. The questions of Imperial preference and defence would most certainly be considered. Captain Berkeley suggested that as Mr. Massey was unable to attend, the High Commissioner should bo invited. Mr. Baldwin replied that that was for the Prime Minister to decide. — Reuter.
