RED CROSS MEETING

Tho monthly meeting of the Wellingtou Committee of the Red Cross Was held in the Dixon Street Hall yesteiday afternoon. There were present.Mr. T. Munt (chairman), Lady Luke. Mesdames W. Nathan, Moorhouse, Rose, M. Myers, Hertzog, Miss Sybil Nathan, Messrs. Burnett. Wright, and Shirtcliffe. A letter was read from the secretary of the R.S.A. drawing attention to a public meeting which is to be held concerning tho War Memorial, and asking if representatives of the ”ommittee would attend the meeting. Mr Burnett and Mr. Shirtcliffe were appointed representatives. A letter was received from the Director of the Wellington Technical College thanking the committe for the engineering models from Trentham Hospital which had been handed over for the use of students. _ From Pukeora Sanatorium was received a letter asking if the 'committee would undertake the financial responsibility of top-dressing the bowling green at a cost of about £25. It was pointed out, after correspondence was referred to, that the Director of Hospitals had written some time previously stating that if the committee put the green in order to begin with the Health Department would afterwards keep it in order. It was decided to relor the matter to the Department. A letter was received from Mr. J. Finlay, secretary of St. John Ambulance Association, asking what proportion of the funds collected under the joint direction of the St. John Ambulance Association and the Red Cross would be allocated to the former body. It was moved and carried that as thin matter was under the control of the \Var Funds Council it should be referred to Mr. Davies, secretary of thy council. _

It was stated that Mrs. Tidey had been appointed Red Cross representative at Pukeora Sanatorium. In reporting upon his visit to Pukeora, Mr. Burnett urged that more frequent visits be paid to the sanatorium to ensure a practical working sympathy between the Wellington Committee and Pukeora. Mr. Burnett considered that representatives, or a representative, of the Pukeora Com-, mittee should bo asked to attend the annual meeting to be held in Wellington. The resignation of Miss Woods, typiste, was received, and Mr. Munt ahd Mr. Galloway both paid tributes to her services, expressing much regret at losing her. The committee endorsed their remarks.
