G Riddell, S.M-. presided over a Court yesterday morning to hear objections on the part of property owners to being included on the mil ot ratepayers who aro to ho oKp«cia lv rated to cover +he cost ot the interest and sinking funds on loans for wate and drainage for the Karori and Onslow districts, proposed to be sanetioned at a poll to ho taken on Apr 26. Mr. B. G. H. Burn (a member of the City Council) appeared to-> 31 land owners in the Karori district, and Mr. J. Dale (also a member of the council) appeared m support of the objection of six landowners, m the Onslow district. The point raised m each instance was that the land prooosed. to be rated was more than 74<) feet above sea level, and such a height that it could not be served by water from the Wamui or Orongorengo streams. In some instances parts of the land was below that level, and could be served with water, lhe names of the owners of lands such as were above the prescribed level were ordered to be struck ; off the roU . in instances where part of were below the said level the °™ ers names were retained on the roll so that they could be rated on such lands as would or might benefit by the proposals about to be submitted to the ratepayers generally.
