Vice-Regal. The Governor-General, Lord Jellicoe. who will return to Christchurch from his holiday in the south on April AJ, is to make several presentations to members of the Ashburton branch of the St. John Ambulance Association on that day. Lord Jellicoe proposes to pav -a short unofficial visit to Invercargill from April .12 to 14, before embnrkin<x on the latter date on Chatham at the Bluff.
The Prime Minister (Mr. MasseyO will to-day attend at Palmerston North a farewell to Messrs. A. Conway and P A McHardv, who intend to make a trip to the Old Country. On. Wednesday he will open the memorial peace gates at Weraroa.
The Alinister of Labour and Marine (Mr. Anderson) has left for the south. Ho will be absent from Wellington for about a week, and will visit the Dunedin and Alataura districts.
Tho Minister of Education (Air. Parr) spent the week-end in Timaru on departmental business. Yesterday ho mad© an extensive tour of the schools in the Temuka, Milford, and Geraldine districts with Air. Burnett, M.P To-day tho Minister will visit tho Timaru School with Mr. Rolleston, ALP., investigating complaints of overcrowding, and will leave at midday for Gore.—Press Assn.
Doctor E. H. Wilkins has recently •©signed from the position of director of School Hygiene in the Department of Healt.h which he has held for some roars past. He is returning to the Old Country where he proposes to take up further work in preventive medicine.

Professor Grossman, of the Auckland University, is visiting Wellington on a short term of recuperative leave. Mr. R. W. Lavery, A.1.A., of the National Provident Fund and Friendly Societies’ Department, has been appointed actuary of the Co-operative Assurance Company of Sydney. At the London Institute of Actuaries’ examinations last year Mr. Lavery was the only successful candidate for the. associateship in Australia and New Zealand
Mr. H. A. Salmon, of tho firm of Messrs. Wright. Stephenson, and Co., was taken ill last week while returning to Dunedin from Wellington. Mr. Salmon had reached Christchurch, where he had to undergo a somewhat serious operation, which was successfully performed and from which he is making a good recovery.
Mr. John M. Bishop, formerly in the Government Electrical Service at Hora, hora, has just been appointed to an important position in the British General Electric Works in Sydney. Ho is a Bachelor of Engineering, and received his earlier education at Terrace School and Wellington College.
