" TIRED OF LIBERTY”
FASCIST LEADER’S VIEW NO USE FOR LIBERALISM BY Telegraph.—Press Association. —Copyright. Rome, April 3. Signor Mussolini (Premier of Italy), in a remarkable article in the new paper “Gerarchia.” says that he has no use for Liberalism. “Russia and Italy,” ho declares, “have shown that one can govern without it. Liberalism means that a few men overrule all the others allowing freedom of action to those avowedly hostile to the State. History has no example of a Government exclnsivelv based on the will of the people and renouncing the use of force. The will of the people is as shifty as the sands of .the seashore. “The truth is that men are tired of liberty. Liberty is no longer the qhaste and severe virgin for whom the first half of the nineteenth centurv fought. ■Fa seism'has no qualms in declaring itself anti-Liberal, and will trample underfoot the decomposed corpse of Lib-erty.”—Aus.-N.Z.
