DAY’OUT FOR 14-FOOTERS CLARK AND MORRIS TROPHY TO ILLINOIS
Two postponed races on the programme of the Royal Fort Nicholson Yacht Club for the 18ft. and under class —the Clark and Morris trophy, and a general handicap—took place yesterday. The Clark and Morris trophy, considered to be the principal event of tho season for the small boats, was contested yesterday morning, and was won by the Illinois. Conditions were not perfect, for there was a fluky breeze. The cour.se was from the Clyde Qu®' wharf to the Jerningliam Buoy, thence around the Coromandel Buoy, and back to a buoy moored off the starting line. This course was sailed twice round. Following aro the detailed results with the corrected finishing time:—-
The Kewpie (12 minutes handicap) did not start, while the Tiri (19 minutes did not complete the course. In. the afternoon there was a general handicap. The conditions were more favourable thqji in the morning. There was a light southerly which “ made sailing on the small boats very pleasant. The course was similar to that of the morning. Following are the detailed results with tho corrected finishing time: —
The Eynin (2min. handicap), Geisha s|min.), Mahau (lOJmin.), and Tiri (21min.), did not complete the course. Mr. Grady acted as starter.
