FOOM OUB OWN OOBBBSTONDBNT. Carterton, March 29. The Featherston County Council and fhe Waiohine and Ahiakouka River Board held a conference at Greytown yesterday, when tho question of protective works was discussed. It was decided that a step-bank of about 25 chains should be constricted, the Waiohine River Board contributing up to £5O towards the cost, and tho Featherston County Council and the ■Ahiakouka River Board providing the remainder, in equal amounts.. it was mentioned during the conference that the most treacherous spot on the river was at Cabbage .Tree Point, mid-way between protective works constructed by the two boards. It was decided .that the Waiohine Board’s overseer should regularly inspect the point, and that if anything required immediate attention, the three local bodies interested should be called together.
