THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE
The Director of Education has issue*! a circular to education boards and boards of governors of secondary schools and technical high schools, pointing out that section 11 of the Education Act of 1921-22 provides that teachers had to make an oath of allegiance, and managers of private schools were liable to a fine of £5O if this was hot complied with The Department desired to know if the provision of the Act had been complied with by all teachers, and if steps had been taken to see that all newlyappointed teachers and those who reentered the service had taken tihe oath.
