——♦ — DANGEROUS DRIVING. Flushed and highly disconcerted a young man named William Wolland stepped into the dock to plead guilty to charges of drunkenness and driving a motor delivery van in a dangerous manner. He was represented by Mr. 0 A. L- Treadwell. According to Sub-Inspector Cummings, the accused had been dnving a butcher’s delivery van round Oriental Bay for his father. RESISTING THE POLICE. ‘T don’t remember much of the occurrence,” complained a middle-aged seaman named John Lane, who was charged with using obscene language and resisting a constable. It was explained that the accused had invited a sergeant to “lock him up ” but no sooner had he been arrested than he commenced to resist violently and use objectionable language. Accused was fined £3, with the option of spending seven day’s in gaol and was ordered to be placed on board his vessel. ■ OTHER CASES. Charged with failing to support his wife George Cann was remanded to appear at Christchurch to-morrow. Frederick Percival Baker, who was guilty of threatening behaviour m Courtenay Plgco, was fined £2 and costs. William Banks, whose maintenance arrears totalled £lO 10s-, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, the warrant-is to be suspended so long as he pays £1 12s. 6d. per week. . Percy Higgs, for being £29 Bs. in arrears with maintenance dues, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. The warrant is to be withheld provided £1 is paid weekly. Lillie- Stewart was granted a maintenance order against Herbert Stewart, tho weekly contribution being fixed at £2.
