New Zealand demand falling off except for inferior. It is reported that fair grade is offered in America at £3l 10s. for March-May shipments. Wed. Sale closed March 23. Attendance was good throughout. Home demand, which was indifferent at the beginning, improved towards close. Continental demand keen and showing increasing interest in crossbred. America bought suitable lots freely. Confidence steadily improved and better tone noticeable at tho close. Merino and, fine crossbred’finished at par to 5 per'cent. lower thhn January rates.. Coarse and medium crossbred, which earlier were 10 per cent, loxver, have recovered, closing medium crossbred about 71 por cent., coarse crossbred 5 per cent, cheaper. Average closing values: —. Superior 60-64’s (merino), nominally 2s. to 2s. 6d..; ordinary 60-64’s (merino), Is. 6d. to 2s. ; 56’s (super halfbred), Is. 9d. to 2s.
