INFECTIOUS DISEASES
CONSIDERABLE INCREASE A considerable increase, due to cases of pneumonia, scarlot fever, tuberculosis, and puerperal septicaemia, is recorded in the number of cases of notifiable disease in the AVellington health district for the week ended at noon yesterday. Returns from the various health districts are as follow:— Palmerston North: Scarlet fever, 3 ; poliomyelitis, 1; puerperal septicaemia, 3 ; pneumonia, 2. 1 Wellington: Scarlet fever, 4; diphtheria, 10; tuberculosis, 4; trachoma, Wairarapa: Scarlet fever, 1. Nelson: Puerperal septicaemia, 1. The two weeks may bo compared by the following table :—
