4n offer was recently made by Colonel J. G. Hughes, D. 5.0., at a public meeting of citizens to get 20 men who would take up a collection in aid of the Communitv Club funds, thus relieving the ladies who have done all the street collecting since the outbreak of the Great War. Colonel Hughes announces that he has arranged with the following to take boxes for to-dav, and that several of those named have offered do take up collections in tho streets:—Tho Mayor (Mr. R A "Wright) ; Messrs. J. B. Harcourt, L. 0. H. Tripp, A. E. Preston, Alex. Roberts, A. J. loogood. Al. Doughty. Harry Moss, J. B. McEwan, Arthur Duneaji. Pat "Ward. H C ’, U Y Hayman; "Wellington Club, Mellesley Chib, Commercial Travellers’ Club, and tho Midland Hotel. Colonel Hughes himself will help as a collector? It is hoped that as a result a substantial amount will be raised in aid of the Community Club for Territorials and Senior Cadets.
