KIRKWOOD .-SPRAINS A! SHOULDER.

(Rec. March 20, 8.40 p.m.) New York, March 19. Kirkwood, who recently sprained a muscle in his shoulder, played through the West Coast open gjlf tournament at Bellaire (Florida) witliout complaining, thinking the injury of no consequence. When fishing to-day he hooked a four-foot kingfish, and in attempting to land his prey _sprained his shoulder so seriously that he was compelled to consult a physician, who ordered him to cease golfing for a fortnight. This has resulted in the cancellation of several tournament dates. He and Hagen will sail for England on May 1 to participate in the British open championship at Gleneagles,, match play, and other open events. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
