Tho nature of Japan’s reply to the Chinese demands, being anticipated in Tokio, caused no surprise, The Government sent its request for tho abrogation of the 1915 treaty chiefly to confirm Parliament’s request; therefore, there is no immediate nrospect of an Immediate rejoinder. China wished it merely to go on record as haying protected the Government’s positionIn tho'meantime in connection with Cabinet’s resignation, the President has refused to accept the resignation, promising that the military’ leaders would shortly come to decisions making tho Government’s position easier, Ihe Cabinet continues in office without, paving definitely withdrawn its resignation.
