SUSPECT BEFORE THE COURT Another of the young men. alleged to bo concerned in the series of burglaries recently committed in tho city appeared before Mr. F. K- Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court on Saturday morning. The accused was William Janies Mcßain, described as a ship s steward. Ho was charged with breaking and entering the Wellington Woollen Company’s warehouse and stealing therefrom eight rolls of silk, five rolls, of navy blue serge, one roll of brown tweed, and sixty knitted tics (total value £300). “I ask for a remand to the police station not to the gaol,” eaid ChiefDetective Kemp. “The accused will reappear on Wednesday.” Mr. P. AV. Jackson, who represented accused, applied for bail. Chief-Detective Keinp: This man was found with a loaded revolver in his possession. Our inquiries are by no means complete, and His Worship: Remanded until Wednesday without bail.
