AMERICA’S REPLY TO BRITAIN. (Rec. February 21, 1010 p.m.) • Washington, February 20. The American reply to the last Elfish communication regarding the Newcastle consulate case has been forwarded to the British Foreign Office. It is understood that the United States, after three investigations, holds that the Brtiish Government’s allegations against tho consulate officers, Messrs. Sfater and Brooks, _ that iliey improperly exercised their authority, are baseless, and Britain has been advised that the consulate would be kept closed until the men are publicly exonerated. —Aus.-N.Z.
