HOURS AND WAGES

DEADLOCK IN BUILDING NEGOTIATIONS.

Sydney, January 13. There is a complete deadlock in the building negotiations. The employers proposed that) the hours should be 47 a week for eight months, 44 for two months, and 411 hours for two months, also with a 20 per cent, reduction on the present wages. The men refused to agree to any extension of the present 44-hour week, or a reduction in wages. They are demanding the stabilisation of the present conditions for a year.—Press Assn.
