FORMER FRENCH PREMIER.

Paris, January 14. The death is announced of M. Ribot, formerly Premier of France —Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.

[Alexandre F. Ribot was 81 years of of age and was first elected a member of 'the Chamber of Deputies in 1878. He was Minister for Foreign Affairs in M. de Freycinet’s Ministry. 1890-93. He was President of the Cabinet during the stormy period of the Panama case, and became Prime Minister after the resignation of M. Casimir-Perier. Ho was Prime Minister again from March to September, 1917.]
